Lake Sirio is a Canavese lake located on the border between the municipalities of Ivrea and Chiaverano. The area is characterized by the presence of four other glacial lakes: Lago Nero, Lago Pistono, Lago San Michele and Lago di Campagna. Lake Sirio, formerly known as San Giuseppe from the convent of the same name on a hill overlooking it, is the largest of the five. With an area of about 0.3 km² and a depth of almost 45 meters, it is the only one to be fed by a source. It is possible to access the body of water through the two plants located in the south-west and east, but the use of motor boats is not allowed. On the shore that goes from east to south-west there is a lakefront with benches and picnic areas, from which you can also spot the medieval castle of Montalto Dora. The opposite bank, however, is not accessible from the ground due to the impervious terrain or the presence of houses.
